Digital Signage by NOVA Digital Signs

Forrest Moore, our founder, learned first-hand how complicated the digital signage field can be when in 2011 he began building NOVA Networks, a company that installs and sells advertising on Digital Signs installed in neighborhood businesses.  After examining dozens, perhaps hundreds, of different combinations of screens, media players, software delivery solutions and content creation tools he came to realize that for most business owners and managers choosing the right combination to deploy effective digital signage would be a frustrating and expensive task.  

 

One of the major reasons that Digital Signage can be frustrating is that the companies that make consumer electronics (Sony, Panasonic, LG and Samsung primarily) also make all of the Specialty Digital Signage screens which they sell for 2-3 times the cost of a consumer TV set. The result is that these manufacturers do not permit their consumer TVs to perform some very basic Digital Signage functions.  

 

For examaple, consumer TVs generally lack on/off scheduling which invalidates the remote management features of the Signage media players and Software.  Even when that feature is present, Consumer TVs lack the ability to automatically tune to an external device plugged in via HDMI or component cable. Without those functions remote management is impossible and a trained person must manually start and stop the signage every time. The expensive Specialty Digital Signage screens that these manufacturers also sell, of course, do automatically look for and play from any connected media player and offer on/off scheduling.  NOVA Digital's screens provide the Digital Signage features of on/off scheduling and tuning to an external device when turned on but they cost the same as a consumer TV.
